Galway all the Way! Our Naming Journey

In our 16th year in business, we’ve seen a lot! As Ireland’s leading coach operator in the west of Ireland, our journey has sometimes been as windy as many of the country roads on the Wild Atlantic Way.

Back in 2007 – the year our Irish rugby team failed to progress from the group stages in the Rugby World Championships in France – we weren’t known as ‘Galway Tour Company’. That actually came a little later. In those days we were known as the ‘Dublin Tour Company’. Admittedly, it didn’t quite have the same ring to it, and a rebranding allowed us to focus on what we do, and where we do it, best.

We chose Galway as our new base of operations, offering a world-class service that not only beat the competition but showcased the stunning beauty captured on the western edge of Ireland.

Why Galway? As recently as 2020 it was voted Europe’s Capital of Culture. The third most visited city in Ireland (after Cork and Dublin), it is also home to many of the cultural events that attract international attention each calendar year, such as the Galway Races, Film Fleadh, International Arts Festival and much more. Approximately 1 million domestic visitors flock to Galway each year, with international numbers almost double that figure.

We quickly settled into our home and began building a range of tours that excited locals and visitors alike. Our name changed, but the goal has always remained the same.

(clear throat, summon assertive voice)

Giving tourists, visitors and travellers the best experience that Ireland has to offer.

We are determined that you have an unforgettable adventure on our tours and make memories that last a lifetime – or at least until the 4th pint. We quickly developed a reputation for being different from other operators. Our quick-witted, cartoonishly handsome and knowledgeable drivers are a big part of our success and judging by your reviews on Google and Tripadvisor, it looks like you guys love them as much as we do!

Over the years, we expanded our fleet of vehicles, hired more sound drivers and guides than you can shake a stick (we’ve tried – it only tickles them) and created coach tours that positively fizz with anecdotes, sparkle with Irish charm and dazzle newcomers from all around the world.

Not to say that we couldn’t achieve that in Dublin or Athlone, but Galway is where our hearts lie and we will continue to promote this magical city and its surrounding areas.

Don’t believe us? Well, put your money where your mouth is.
