The Cliffs of Moher – Closing Times, Route Closure?

A common question we get is, ‘what time does the Cliffs of Moher close?’, followed by a variation of, ‘I’ve heard that the Cliffs of Moher route has been closed. Is that true?

Well, we’re going to put those questions to bed, with insights directly from the source. Firstly, here are the closing times of the Cliffs of Moher:

January: 09:00 – 17:00
February: 09:00 – 17:00
March: 08:00 – 19:00
April: 08:00 – 19.00
May – August: 08:00 – 21:00
September: 08:00 – 19:00
October: 08:00 – 19:00
November: 09:00 – 17:00
December: 09:00 – 17:00

Closed 24th, 25th, and 26th of December.

The Cliffs of Moher Visitor Experience is open all year around except for the Christmas days mentioned above. More information can be found on the official website.

Closed Sections

As for the second question regarding articles that interested visitors may have read online about a closure or partial closure of the Cliffs, please see the following statement from the Cliffs of Moher Visitor Centre about the subject.

Clare County Council owns 800m of safe cliff edge pathways and viewing platforms at the Cliffs of Moher Experience. The wider 18kilometer of Cliffs of Moher Coastal Trail is managed by Clare Local Development Company CLDC, who have recently closed sections both north and south of the Cliffs of Moher Visitor Centre.

Clare County Council is committed to working with CLDC to deliver additional safety works to ensure public safety.

If you have additional queries in relation to the Cliffs of Moher Coastal Trail, please contact CLDC +353 65 68 66 800 or email info@cldc.ie

We hope that answers your questions. We have an FAQ page where you can find questions like these and more.

If your question isn’t there, please contact us on +353 91 566 566 or info@galwaytourcompany.com.
